About the Program
Following a number of ten-year studies, in May 1998, Québec launched the Québec breast cancer screening program, based on a reference framework.
Purpose of the Program
The goal of the Québec breast cancer screening program is to reduce mortality due to breast cancer by at least 25% among women aged 50 to 69, over a ten-year period.
Many studies show that operating a screening program for a number of years can lower the mortality rate from breast cancer by 25%. The encouraging results since the program began are an incentive to continue.
